On 20 May 2026, Ibn Haldun University organized its 1st International Day at the Başakşehir Complex. Aimed at strengthening the university's global ties and showcasing its cultural diversity, the event brought together around 1,000 participants including students, academics, and representatives of diplomatic missions from various cities.
Opening Speeches and Academic Panel
The program began with opening speeches by IHU President Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr Irfan Gunduz, and Deputy Minister of Interior of Republic of Turkiye Mehmet Cangir. It was followed by a video message from UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed. In her video message, Amina J. Mohammed addressed the role of students and the university in shaping internationalization. After the protocol speeches, an academic panel titled “Internationalization in Higher Education: Global Trends and Our Shared Future” was held to discuss current trends in education.
Cultural Booths from 12 Countries
Throughout the day, cultural booths representing 12 different countries were set up by international students. Students displayed traditional artifacts, local clothing, and hosted interactive activities. Attendees also had the chance to try various world cuisines.
Conversation with Maher Zain and Closing
Following the stage performance by "The Piano Room"—a group composed of our university's students—the event concluded with a conversation and a musical performance featuring the world-renowned artist Maher Zain.
