Charting the Future of Higher Education
Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in an intensive diplomatic schedule, convening with management teams from Malaysia’s most prestigious educational institutions. The program commenced with a "Leadership Summit" hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), followed by the "Malaysia-The Republic of Türkiye Leadership Programme" organized at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The "2nd Joint Committee Meeting on Higher Education" held at the Iconic Marjorie Hotel on April 28, 2026, along with the "Malaysia-The Republic of Türkiye Higher Education Forum 2026" co-organized with USM on April 29, served as strategic platforms to address the future of higher education in the era of artificial intelligence and to catalyze global collaborations. The forum fostered in-depth discussions on the integration of educational frameworks and a shared international vision.
Strategic Engagement and MoUs with 8 Elite Universities
Ibn Haldun University conducted high-level bilateral meetings with eight prominent universities driving the Malaysian higher education ecosystem:
Building upon existing partnerships previously established with Sultan Azlan Shah University, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), the newly signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during this visit have significantly broadened and anchored region-specific academic efforts onto a more robust institutional foundation.
In addition to forging formal academic ties, a comprehensive consensus was reached with the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), operating under the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, to build an active, multidimensional cooperation model. Planning is already underway to host the next summit in Istanbul.

Following the high-level meetings, the "Five Axes, One Vision" strategy was formulated to secure the sustainability of Ibn Haldun University's Asian vision. This strategic roadmap focuses on the following core pillars:
Immediate Post-Visit Action Items
As a direct outcome of this milestone visit, the University administration has finalized a set of immediate action items to accelerate its Asian studies framework. Moving forward, priority will be given to launching pilot exchange programs, completing joint and dual degree matchings, preparing institutional handbooks for postdoctoral and sabbatical research leaves, and initiating structural work dedicated to establishing a region-specific research center.
By expanding its international education and research horizon across the Asian axis, Ibn Haldun University continues to elevate its strategic presence within the global higher education arena through these historic agreements finalized in Malaysia.
