Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan, our President, paid a visit to Washington D.C. to observe the activities of our USA Summer School program on site, an opportunity offered by our university to successful students in English Preparatory Year. During his visit from July 29 till August 9, he held various meetings with official authorities, including Sedat Önal, Ambassador of Türkiye to Washington DC; Prof. Dr. Fatih Savaşan, Washington DC Education Counsellor of Türkiye, Fatih Kanca, Washington DC Religious Services Counsellor of Türkiye and Ali Tos, New York Religious Services Attaché of Türkiye.
In the meeting with Ambassador Sedat Önal, which was held in an interactive format with the participation of our students, the need for qualified personnel within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye as required by Türkiye's increasing global role was discussed, and potential career opportunities for our graduates were noted. Our students were hosted at the Embassy Residence in Washington, D.C., where they had the opportunity to learn from Ambassador Önal's experiences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his views on Türkiye's foreign relations vision and policies.
During the New York part of the program, our President visited the Türkevi and the TÜRKEN Headquarters in Manhattan. He held discussions to expand the scope of the USA Summer School program. Furthermore, potential collaborations with Turkish public institutions and NGOs to use their educational and housing opportunities with a view to enhance the knowledge and experience of our students in the USA.
The USA Summer School Program, which was organized in three groups, began on July 15, 2025. It will conclude on September 15, 2025, when the last group of students returns to Türkiye.
